Documentary exhibition at the International Conference

On December 7, 2023, an International Scientific and Practical Conference was held dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide on December 9, 1948. The conference was organized by the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Belarus. As part of this event, the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus and the State Archive of Film, Photo and Audio Documents prepared and presented an exhibition of archival documents and photographs on the genocide of the Belarusian people, as well as a banner exhibition «Without a Statute of Limitations».

The exhibition presents archival documents testifying to the crimes of the Nazis during the Great Patriotic War – acts of the Extraordinary State Commission, which contain information not only on the damage caused by the Nazi invaders to the national economy of the BSSR, but also on the crimes committed by the Nazis against the civilian population of the BSSR in years of the Great Patriotic War, as well as judicial investigations of war criminals, captured documents, registration cards for Belarusians taken for forced labor in Germany, photographic documents of the Republican Commission on the atrocities committed by the Nazi invaders in the Belarusian SSR, etc.

The exhibition aroused great interest among numerous visitors. Familiarization with the documents presented, testifying to the terrible crimes and events during the Great Patriotic War on the territory of Belarus, will contribute to further consolidation of efforts in promoting legality and justice, enhancing the exchange and dissemination of information, in order to preserve the international memory of the victims of Nazism, preventing attempts to revive radical nationalist ideologies in modern society, distortion of indisputable historical facts and rewriting the course of history.
