BGAMLI joined the celebration of the 120th anniversary of Petrus Brovka in Ushachi district

On June 29, 2025, representatives of the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI) took part in the literary journey «1.1.1», dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of the people’s poet of Belarus Petrus Brovka. The project was implemented as part of the cooperation of BGAMLI with cultural institutions of the Ushachi district.

The participants of the journey visited the iconic places of Ushachi district associated with the life and work of famous local writers who were awarded the title of «People’s»: Petrus Brovka, Ryhor Borodulin and Vasil Bykov. The travelers were able to follow the paths of poets and writers, drink water from the «poets’ spring», where many of the creators stopped on their way home, and see documentary evidence of their creative destinies and the heroism of the partisan Lepel and Ushach regions.

The head of the department of information, publication and use of documents of the BGAMLI V.V.Birulya and the leading archivist N.A.Mizon took part in a reading marathon during the trip, where poems were read, the original manuscripts of which are stored in the BGAMLI funds.

In a solemn atmosphere in the House-Museum of Petrus Brovka, the participants of the event were presented with the presentation of the exhibition «In Great Gift» and were presented with copies of unique documents from the funds of the Belarusian State Museum of Literature and Art: ex-libris of Petrus Brovka made by N. Tarasikov and E.Krasovsky, a portrait-etching of the poet performed by E. Krasovsky, poems dedicated to Petrus Brovka on the occasion of the anniversary by M. Khvedorovich and M. Luzhanin. A particularly valuable document, a copy of which was transferred to the funds of the Literary Museum of Petrus Brovka, was a copy of the collective letter of P.Brovka, M.Tank, V.Volsky, A.Kucher to the deputy head of the printing department of the USSR People’s Commissariat of Defense Panov with a request to enroll in the active army (1941).

The joint project confirmed the common efforts of archivists and museum workers in preserving the cultural heritage of Belarus.
