The republic-level seminar “Territorial Heraldry of Belarus: issues in reconstructing historical coats of arms and flags, establishing new heraldic symbols, and their state registration”
On 20 November 2007, the republic-level seminar “Territorial Heraldry of Belarus: issues in reconstructing historical coats of arms and flags, establishing new heraldic symbols, and their state registration” was held at the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus.
The seminar has addressed a number of professional issues, noticing that the modern heraldry of Belarus draws on the centuries-long historical, heraldic and cultural traditions of the Belarusian people and other European nations. At present 163 coats of arms and 99 flags of the administrative and territorial entities in Belarus have been included in the State Heraldic Register.
The report delivered by Viacheslav Nosevich, director at the Belarusian Research Center of Electronic Records, member of the Heraldry Council, accentuated the uniqueness and specificity of the Belarusian heraldry which is rooted as early as in the Middle Ages.
