«Archives for Schools»: A History Lesson at Secondary School No.6 (Named After S.V.Sych) in Rechitsa

On October 14, 2026, as part of the national «Archives for Schools» initiative, a lesson titled «Glorious Rechitsa, Beloved City!» was held at Secondary School No.6 in Rechitsa, which bears the name of S.V.Sych. Staff from the Rechitsa State Archive spoke to 9th-grade students about the history of Rechitsa, showcasing archival documents related to the city’s post-war development and efforts to commemorate its notable natives and residents. Among the materials presented was a decision by the Rechitsa District Executive Committee, dated December 22, 2012, to name the school after Sergei Vladimirovich Sych — a local resident and border guard who had attended the school and was killed in action against Afghan mujahideen in Tajikistan on July 13, 1993.

The session concluded with a screening of the documentary film «Hero-Fortress», produced by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Phonographic Documents (BGAKFFD) to mark the 85th anniversary of the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War and the defense of the Brest Fortress.
