XXIV Archival Readings
On October 8, 2026, the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art and the Department of Source Studies at Belarusian State University will host the XXIV Archival Readings, dedicated to the 120th anniversary of Nikolai Nikolaevich Ulashchik — a Belarusian historian, archaeographer, and writer.
N.N.Ulashchik (1906–1986) was a prominent figure in Belarusian scholarship, the author of over 400 works on history, archaeography, source studies, and local history, and a member of the Archaeographic Commission of the USSR Academy of Sciences. He made significant contributions to the study of the history of Belarus during the feudal era, as well as to the study of Belarusian chronicles, memoirs, and diaries. His own recollections, notes on local history, and epistolary legacy serve as important sources for historical and literary research. A distinctive feature of N.N. Ulashchik’s work is its interdisciplinary nature, combining methods from various fields that study the past.
The organizers invite researchers, archivists, historians, philologists, museum staff, educators, graduate students, and anyone interested in source studies, archaeography, and the history of Belarusian scholarship and literature to participate in the readings and share their research.
The XXIV Archival Readings will take place at the Faculty of History building of Belarusian State University (Minsk, 6 Krasnoarmeyskaya St.).
