On holding a meeting on working with students at the State Archives of the Gomel Region

On March 17, 2025, a meeting on methodological issues with employees of the State Educational Institution «Gomel Regional Center for Tourism and Ecology for Children and Youth» was held at the State Archives of the Gomel Region, as part of cooperation with educational institutions. The meeting discussed issues of conducting lessons for students as part of the «Archives for School» and «Young Archivist» campaigns.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Director Zoya Aleksandrovich, Head of the Office Work, Formation of the NAF and Archives of Organizations Department Tatyana Khinevich, Head of the Document Records and Preservation Department Svetlana Primakova and Senior Researcher Maya Vashchenko, Head of the Local History Department Anastasia Slauta and young specialists, methodologists – Alina Shcherbakova, Anastasia Pekhtereva and Daria Pevets.

During the meeting, the archive staff talked about the archive documents from the Great Patriotic War period used in working with students. They shared their experience in conducting lessons on the topic of the genocide of the Belarusian people, taking into account the different ages of students and levels of education.

The archive specialists recommended such methods and forms of working with students as a visual demonstration of documents on stands and display cases, the use of originals during thematic classes and lectures, as well as excursions, film lectures and round tables. Participation of employees in off-site thematic events, with the involvement of students and pupils is also one of the forms of work of the archive.

The guests were given an introductory tour of the archive.
