Documentary exhibition «Basic Law of the State»

On March 13, 2025, as part of the ceremony of ceremonial presentation of passports of a citizen of the Republic of Belarus to students by the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Igor Petrovich Sergeyenko, the National Library of Belarus presented the exhibition «Basic Law of the State», timed to coincide with the Constitution Day of the Republic of Belarus, celebrated on March 15.

The documentary and book exhibition was prepared jointly with the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus and includes about 100 documents reflecting the history of the legislation of the Belarusian state, the chronology of the preparation and adoption of the Constitution of our state, amendments and additions to it in connection with political, socio-economic and cultural changes.

The presented documents of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus include copies of the draft Constitution of the Republic of Belarus from 1993 and 1994; copies of the resolution of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Belarus on the draft Constitution of the Republic of Belarus; minutes of the Central Commission of the Republic of Belarus for Elections and Holding Republican Referendums and other documents.

Among the publications from the collection of the National Library of Belarus are original printed copies of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus of different years, scientific and scientific-methodological collections on the issues of application of the basic law of the state and constitutional law of the Republic of Belarus, as well as current publications in the periodical press.
