Risks and threats of the digital space: as part of the cybersecurity week, an information and preventive meeting was held at the Zonal State Archives in Molodechno

As part of the cybersecurity week, an information and preventive meeting was held with employees of the Zonal State Archives in Molodechno, the purpose of which was to increase employees’ awareness of modern cyber threats and methods of protecting information, preserving financial resources. The event was held by the head of the OPK Molodechno District Department of Internal Affairs Ivan Lipchik. Ivan Petrovich focused on the most common cyber threats, such as vishing, phishing, swatting, cyberbullying and others.

Phishing is a fraudulent method in which attackers try to obtain confidential data, such as logins and passwords, by sending fake emails or messages that look official. Ivan Petrovich explained how to recognize such attacks and what precautions should be taken to avoid falling for the attackers’ hook and not losing a large sum of money. For example, check the sender’s address and avoid clicking on suspicious links.

Vishing, or voice phishing, is a phone call from fraudsters posing as employees of banks or other organizations. Ivan Petrovich emphasized the importance of not disclosing personal information over the phone and always verifying information by calling back on official numbers.

Swatting is another threat, which consists of a false call to emergency services in order to create panic or a threat to life. Discussing this topic, the representative of the ROVD noted that such actions can have serious consequences for both the victims and the perpetrators themselves.

Cyberbullying is a form of online bullying that can manifest itself through offensive messages, threats, or the dissemination of false information. Ivan Petrovich urged employees to be attentive to their colleagues and report any cases of cyberbullying in order to create a safe working environment, and also recommended having appropriate conversations with their children and grandchildren.

In addition, practical recommendations for protecting information were discussed during the meeting: using complex passwords, regularly updating software, and paying attention to privacy settings on social networks. This meeting was an important step in raising the level of awareness of the zonal state archive employees about cybersecurity and ways to protect information, the organization’s financial resources, and their own savings. The participants received valuable knowledge and skills that will help them more effectively cope with threats in the digital space in the course of their professional activities and in everyday life.
