A historical memory lesson was held at the State Academy of Educational Institutions for students of the educational institution «Gomel State Mechanical Engineering College»

On April 11, 2024, as part of the «Archives to School» campaign, a historical memory lesson «Remember…» was held at the institution «State Archives of Public Associations of the Gomel Region», dedicated to the International Day of the Liberation of Prisoners of Nazi Concentration Camps.

The event was attended by students of the educational institution «Gomel State Mechanical Engineering College». The study group was accompanied by curator Tatyana Vasilievna Anisimova.

As part of the meeting, archivists organized a screening of videos from the project «Ordinary Genocide, «Red Coast» and «10 Days of Hell» about the death camps where the Nazis brutally exterminated hundreds of thousands of people.

The guys got acquainted with the lists of released prisoners from the German Ozarichi camp and authentic documents containing the memoirs of General P.I. Batov, which describes the episode of the liberation of prisoners of the Ozarichi camp. In addition, archivists voiced the memories of former juvenile prisoners and eyewitness testimony.

Also, the students were presented with exhibitions of archival documents and photographs «War Doesn’t Have a Woman’s Face» and «1418 Days of War,» which are on display in the reading room of the state archive.

In conclusion, the children were given a sightseeing tour of the archives, during which the children became acquainted with the main activities of the archive, the composition and content of its funds, the system of the created scientific reference apparatus, and also studied the most interesting documents in state storage.
