St. Nicholas Cathedral was built in 1892-1894 with state funds and church donations from parishioners. The new stone building of the cathedral was built of brick in a retrospective Russian style. Under Soviet rule, the cathedral was closed, used as a warehouse for a flour mill.

During the Great Patriotic War, St. Nicholas Cathedral was reopened to believers. On the territory adjacent to the building of the temple, the Nazi invaders arranged a cemetery for the burial of dead soldiers.

In accordance with the decision of the Executive Committee of the Mogilev Regional (Industrial) Council of Workers’ Deputies “On deregistration of the religious society of the Nikolaev Cathedral of the city of Bobruisk and the use of the building for a planetarium” dated November 23, 1963 No. 501, St. Nicholas Cathedral was closed, the community was merged with the community of Sofia churches.

The building was planned to be transferred to the planetarium, but the pool was opened, which lasted until the early 2000s, when the cathedral was returned to believers.
