BelNIIDAD holds a workshop “Records Preservation in an Institution: Selection of Records for Preservation and Destruction”

On 26 March 2019 the Belarusian Research Institute of Records Management and Archival Studies (BelNIIDAD) holds a workshop “Records Preservation in an Institution: Selection of Records for Preservation and Destruction”.

The workshop will address the following issues:

1. Legislation of the Republic of Belarus in the field of archive business and the state control over its observance. Administrative and crime responsibility.
2. Records retention scheduling.
….2.1. Appraisal of records in recordkeeping and in archive.
….2.2. Records retention schedules with retention periods (standard and agency-specific schedules, schedules of non-government organizations, schedules of scientific-technical and other special documentation). Specifics of use of records schedules in various institutions.
….2.3. Changes in retention periods, including changes connected with tax inspections.
3. Procedures for creating an archive and its organizational management.
….3.1. Types and forms of archives.
….3.2. Archive regulations, job descriptions and other local legal acts.
4. File classification plan as a basic document for organization of archive work.
….4.1. Procedures for making a file plan in an institution.
….4.2. Participation of an institutional archive in the creation and coordination of file plans.
5. Transfer of files to an institutional archive for preservation. Destruction of records and files with expired retention periods.
….5.1. Requirements to the execution of files for transfer to an institutional archive.
….5.2. Creation of file inventories (lists) for transfer to an institutional archive. Combined file inventories in an institutional archive.
….5.3. Procedures for the disposal of records and files with expired retention periods. Disposal lists.

The workshop is conducted by BelNIIDAD Director A. Rybakov and Expert-Consultant E. Davydova – authors of normative acts, teaching aids and procedural guides in records management and archive business.
