Delegation of Belarusian archivists paid a visit to the National Archives of Finland, Helsinki
From 13 to 17 May 2019 the delegation of Belarusian archivists paid a visit to the National Archives of Finland, Helsinki. The delegation included First Deputy Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Justice Ministry Olga Ledovskaya, Director of the National Historical Archives of Belarus Dmitry Yatsevich, Deputy Director of the National Historical Archives of Belarus Denis Liseichikov, Deputy Director of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus Elena Stukanova, Head of Acquisition Division at the Belarusian Research Center for Electronic Records Olga Zhuk.
The main purpose of the visit was to learn best practices in digitization and provision of open access of archival records, handling of electronic records.
The Belarusian archivists also visited the Hameenlinna Provincial Archive, for which a specialized building was constructed in 2009. The visit also included a meeting with Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of Belarus to Finland Alexey Samosuyev with the participation of the Head for Relations with Russia and former USSR countries at the National Archives of Finland Dmitry Frolov. The meeting discussed the perspectives of bilateral cooperation in the field of archives.
The visit was financed by the MOST European Union Project. The Embassy of Belarus in Finland provided assistance in the organization of the event.
