The State Archives of Grodno Region hosted a delegation from Cheboksary, Russia

On 24 May the State Archives of Grodno Region hosted a creative delegation from Cheboksary, Russia. The delegation was headed by Vladimir A. Vasilyev, a film producer, script writer, Doctor of Culturology, Ph.D. in History, Professor at the Ulyanov State University of Chuvashia. The purpose of the visit is to make a TV documentary film about the underground anti-fascist organization led by Nikolay Volkov, known as “uncle Kolya’s group”, who fought against the enemy in the city of Grodno during the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945.

The Archive’s staff presented documents from the personal collection of Alexander Pleshevenya: photographs, reminiscences, letters, articles about the activities of Nikolay Volkov’s antifascist group.

The presentation of the film is scheduled to take place in September in Grodno.
