Consultative seminar on records management in accordance with current legislation on records and archives administration, Gomel, 10 June 2011

10 June 2011, the Vashchenko Art Gallery in Gomel held a consultative seminar on topic of “Records management in accordance with current legislation on records and archives administration in government institutions in the Republic of Belarus”.

The seminar addressed the following issues:

• Legislative base in records and archives management in the Republic of Belarus and the system of state control over its compliance. The work of the State Inspection for Archives and Records Management of the Republic of Belarus in Gomel Region.
• Documentation of government activities (requirements to local normative legal acts on records management, rules for records attributes, formation of certain types of records etc.).
• Creation and use of file classification plans.
• Procedures for use, registration and confirmation of blank forms bearing the image of the National Emblem of the Republic of Belarus.
• Preservation of records at agency archives in government institutions (requirements to storage facilities, equipment, conditions, file location). Types of archives.

The seminar is intended for employees at records management offices, personnel offices, legal departments and agency archives.

Participants at the seminar were the division head for archives and records management at the Gomel Regional Executive Committee Justice Administration – the state inspector for archives and records management in Gomel Region P. M. Lapitsky and the chief specialist at this division N. Yu. Abramova.

The seminar was organised by the Gomel-based regional institution “Knowledge” Belarusian Society.
