On September 25, 2026, the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI) presented the documentary exhibition «Irina Zhdanovich: Woman and Stage», dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of Irina Florianovna Zhdanovich—a People’s Artist of Belarus, renowned director, public figure, and educator. The grand opening took place at the Yanka Kupala National Academic Theatre. The choice of Belarus’s oldest theater for this event was no coincidence; from 1920 onwards, Irina Florianovna’s life and career were inextricably linked to the Kupala Theatre.
E.A.Makarenko, Director of BGAMLI, delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the unique nature of the documents from the family collection of F.P.Zhdanovich, B.V.Platonov, and I.F.Zhdanovich, which is housed at the archive-museum. T.A.Anpilogova, a leading archivist at BGAMLI, presented the exhibition. It begins with biographical documents reflecting I.F.Zhdanovich’s early years in the theater. The actress’s creative career can be traced through photographs of scenes from productions in which she performed. The exhibition also features scripts containing Irina Florianovna’s personal notes, as well as letters from admirers of her talent. A separate section is dedicated to family documents belonging to I.F. Zhdanovich and B.V.Platonov, including photographs taken during vacations, correspondence, and poems written by B.V.Platonov for I.F.Zhdanovich. The documents presented here attest to the invaluable contribution made by Irina Florianovna Zhdanovich to the treasury of Belarusian theatrical art.
The presentation of the exhibition «Irina Zhdanovich: Woman and Stage» attracted media attention.
