A visit to the themed salon «Archivita: Vitebsk Region in Faces» as part of a collaboration
On April 28, 2026, Andrei Valerievich Kucher, an archivist with the Information and Documentation Management Department of the Belarusian State Film, Photo, and Sound Documents, visited a themed salon dedicated to outstanding women of Vitebsk as part of a collaboration with the Vitebsk State Archives.
Portraits of prominent compatriots, past and present, who have made and continue to make significant contributions to the development of the republic and the Dvina region, were on display. Particular attention was paid to women who participated in the Great Patriotic War and Honorary Citizens of Vitebsk. Young tour guides, students from Vitebsk Secondary School No.12 named after L.N.Filipenko, spoke about them.
The screening of newsreels prepared by the Belarusian State Film, Photo, and Sound Documentation Archives was of particular interest to the audience. The archival footage brought the past to life, presenting famous Vitebsk women in their daily lives and achievements. The audience watched with genuine interest as these heroines, whose labor exploits made an invaluable contribution to the prosperity of the city and the republic, were shown. This newsreel was more than just an illustration; it was a true journey through time, allowing them to touch history and feel its spirit.
