On March 5, 2026, the Yanka Kupala Institute of Literary Studies of the Center for Research on Belarusian Culture, Language, and Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus held a roundtable discussion titled «Kondrat Krapiva’s Creative Legacy: Yesterday and Today», dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the national writer’s birth.
Vera Valentinovna Birulya, Head of the Department of Information, Publication, and Document Use at the Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI), participated in the roundtable. She presented a multimedia presentation titled «Kondrat Krapiva’s Documents in the Collections of the Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art». During her speech, V.V.Birulya noted that despite the absence of the writer’s personal collection in the archive-museum, the chronicle of his life and work has been reconstructed thanks to documents held in the collections of his colleagues and associates – renowned Belarusian writers, theater figures, and artists.
To date, the total number of documents identified in the archive exceeds 500. Among the most valuable materials are unique manuscripts of poems from 1941, photographs from plenary sessions and public meetings over the years, personal correspondence with his son Igor, documents related to the classic writer’s work as a playwright, and others.
The materials presented aroused great interest among the roundtable participants, as they provide a fresh perspective on Kondrat Krapiva’s creative path through the prism of his personal and professional connections.
The roundtable became an important platform for dialogue between archivists and literary scholars, enabling them to combine efforts to preserve national memory and popularize Belarusian classics.
