The Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (BSAMLI) took part in an event commemorating the 37th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan

 

On February 14, 2026, employees of the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BSAMA) took part in an event commemorating the 37th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan at the National Memorial Complex «Temple-Monument in Honor of All Saints and in Memory of the Victims Who Served to Save Our Fatherland» in Minsk.

At the beginning of the event, a memorial service for the internationalist soldiers who died in Afghanistan was held in the crypt of the Temple-Monument, followed by a ceremonial laying of flowers. Guards Colonel Vladimir Ilyich Shokov, Chairman of the Minsk City Organization of Afghan War Veterans «Memory» (BSVVA), and Tatyana Ivanovna Kolyadka, Director of the Belarusian Center for Spiritual Revival, delivered welcoming remarks in the White Hall of the Church. A concert program then began, featuring Major Mikhail Bykov, a soldier-internationalist and holder of the Order of the Red Banner, performing the song «Afghan Notebook», among others.

Participating in the event were Tamara Ivanovna Dovnar, Chairperson of the Republican Association of Families of Servicemen Killed in Afghanistan, «Memory and Duty», a member of the Minsk City Council, Deputy Chairperson of the Minsk City Organization of Afghan War Veterans «Memory» (BSVVA), and Georgy Petrovich Atamanov, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus for Organizational, Party, and Legal Work.
