«Pesnyary: A Prayer of Voices and Hearts». BGAMLI Staff at the Anniversary Evening in Memory of Vladimir Mulyavin

On January 21, 2026, staff of the Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI) participated in an anniversary evening dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding musician, composer, and arranger, People’s Artist of Belarus Vladimir Georgievich Mulyavin (1941–2003).

The gala event took place at the National Library of Belarus. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the updated educational virtual project «Pesnyary: A Prayer of Voices and Hearts». The resource, created a year earlier for the legendary ensemble’s 55th anniversary, was significantly updated and expanded with new, unique materials. Today, the project includes detailed information about the ensemble’s history with the ability to listen to partial audio recordings, materials about the artists’ stage costumes, lists of sources about the ensemble from the National Library’s collections, comprising over 600 recordings, full texts of articles by contemporary researchers on the group’s work, a «virtual encyclopedia» commemorating Vladimir Mulyavin, and more.

Particular attention at the presentation was given to the ongoing work to improve the resource. BGAMLI is one of the project’s partners. Along with the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents, the V.G. Mulyavin Museum at the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society, and the National History Museum of the Republic of Belarus, our archive-museum actively contributed to filling the portal with rare documents, some of which were presented to the general public for the first time. The anniversary evening generated enormous public interest: the National Library’s hall could not accommodate everyone who wanted to attend, including members of the creative intelligentsia, young people, colleagues, and admirers of the great «Pesnyar» (songwriter). The large number of visitors once again underscored Vladimir Mulyavin’s status as a true national artist, whose legacy remains relevant decades later.

Summing up the meeting, the participants noted that such inter-archival and inter-museum projects are an important tool for preserving the nation’s cultural heritage.
