«Archives for School»: Polotsk Schoolchildren Experience History
As part of the republican «Archives for School» campaign, the Zonal State Archives in Polotsk hosted a fascinating event for 10th-grade students from the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No.14 named after M.S.Grinevich». This event provided an excellent opportunity for the students to immerse themselves in the world of archival documents and learn about the importance of archives.
Marina Mikhailovna Dichkevich, Head of the Document Use and Publication Department, held an information hour for the students, during which she discussed the role of archives in society and their importance for researchers and citizens. The event also touched on the topic of obtaining an education in archival science. Marina Mikhailovna discussed opportunities for admission to specialized educational institutions and the knowledge and skills necessary for successful archivists.
Following the theoretical portion of the event, the students went on a tour of the archives. During the tour, they were able to see how the storage facilities are organized, learn about the archivists’ work processes, and examine the documents stored in the archive.
