«Security Code: Building a Digital Future Together». The Director of the Zonal State Archive in Molodechno spoke at the Belarusian Party «Belaya Rus» dialogue platform

As part of International Data Protection Day, the Molodechno District Branch of the Belarusian Party «Belaya Rus» initiated the dialogue platform «Security Code: Building a Digital Future Together». Speakers included representatives from the District Department of Internal Affairs, trade, banking, the media, and other sectors. Inna Pudakevich, Director of the Zonal State Archive in Molodechno, spoke to party members about the importance of preserving information. She presented a report on «Culture and Responsibility in Working with Data: Archives in the Digital Age».

In her speech, Inna Pudakevich noted that no system will be reliable if people lack a culture of handling information. She emphasized that archives are where such a culture has been shaped for over a century, and it is this experience that is successfully carried into the digital age. The archivist’s primary task has always been to preserve information in a way that serves society but never poses a threat to individuals.

The director emphasized that archivists always walk the line between «must» and «must not»: on the one hand, they must popularize documentary heritage and make it accessible to the public, while on the other, they must strictly adhere to restrictions related, for example, to citizens’ personal privacy and classified information. In this context, she discussed the National Archival Fund’s Open Access Document System, which allows users to access materials permitted for viewing in accordance with law, while strictly monitoring all actions and restricting access.

A separate section of the report was devoted to the digital transformation of recordkeeping. The speaker noted that more and more organizations are switching to electronic document management, actively using automated document management systems, and in the near future, archives will be storing digital documents. This transition, she explained, requires not only new technologies but also special discipline, as electronic documents must be stored no less securely than paper ones. The director identified the Departmental Archive automated information system (AIS) as a key element of this work. She emphasized that the system is built on multilayered security: authentication and access control, encryption of transmission channels, digital signatures, and backup. Every user action is recorded, fostering a culture of responsible data management.

Inna Zenonovna placed special emphasis on the human factor in document management. After all, discipline and responsibility when working with documents, including those of organizational employees, play a key role in data security.

Concluding her speech, Pudakevich noted that careful handling of information applies not only to work but also to everyday life. In a world of instant messaging and social media, it is especially important to cultivate a culture of discernment: avoiding unnecessary sharing, verifying sources, thinking critically, and remembering that a digital footprint remains forever. Inna Zenonovna reminded that history is preserved in documents, but the future is shaped by our responsibility, and if we learn to respect information, no viruses, fakes, or cyberattacks will be able to undermine historical memory and the ability to preserve the truth.

The meeting also focused on career guidance for schoolchildren present in the hall. The speakers noted that such meetings not only help broaden their horizons but also help them understand the prospects of future professions, where discipline and respect for information will be key competencies.
