Film Screening at Secondary School No.14 in Molodechno: Premiere of the Film Almanac and the Film «The History of the Great Victory»

A film lecture series featuring films about the genocide during World War II and the heroism of the Soviet people was organized by young archivists from Secondary School No.14 in Molodechno as part of a cooperation agreement with the Zonal State Archives. Hundreds of students gathered in the assembly hall, including representatives of the military patriotic and aviation classes. The event adopted a unique format: «peer-to-peer teaching». As Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko noted, this approach allows young people to better absorb knowledge when «peers share with their peers what they themselves have discovered and understood».

Audiences were treated to the premiere of the film almanac «Without Statute of Limitations: The Unconquered», which features the best media works by teenagers from various regions. Among them was the film «Ashes of Childhood» by the Molodechno-based Arkhivny Vestnik studio, which won the Grand Prix and was recognized as a national treasure of Belarus and Russia. The event was hosted by the film’s authors, German Rozhok and Polina Prostakova, and war correspondent Bella Liberman presented the «The Earth Wept» category, emphasizing the importance of preserving historical memory.

A special highlight was the screening of the film «History of the Great Victory» by the Belarusian State Film, Photo, and Sound Documentation Archive. It was accompanied by a presentation by archivist Maria Mechkovskaya, who noted that such media works help counter the falsification of history and instill in young people a sense of responsibility for preserving the truth about wartime.

In a quick poll, the schoolchildren admitted they had learned a lot, realized that the veterans were almost their peers, expressed pride that Belarus was represented at the competition by students from Molodechno, and emphasized that fascism has not disappeared, but has transformed into other forms of aggression. The students also expressed gratitude for living in a peaceful country where the heroism of their ancestors is valued.

The organizers encouraged the students to continue creating, researching, making films, and participating in the «No Statute of Limitations: Unconquered» competition, as it is through connection with the past that a strong and bright future can be built.

Video of the event is available in the latest issue of the Archive Herald.
