Documents on the liberation of the Gomel region from Nazi invaders from the collections of the Zonal State Archives in Rechitsa

The Rechitsa State Archives, in the collection of the editorial office of the newspaper «For Our Lord» in the former Komarinsky district of the Polesie region (since 1954, Gomel region), contains operational reports from the Soviet Information Bureau containing news about the liberation of districts within the archive’s service area from Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.

The Sovinformburo report of November 14, 1943 (F. 163, Op. 1, D. 1, L. 29) reports that south of Rechitsa, the Red Army continued fighting to expand its bridgeheads on the right bank of the Dnieper and captured heavily fortified enemy strongholds: Kolochin, Velin, Levashi, Ivanishche, Vekhin, Orel, Yanovka, Gostivel, Paseka, Berezovka, and Smagorin in the Rechitsa district; Buda in the Khoiniki district; and Zarezov and Buda-Petritskaya in the Loyev district.
