The Zonal State Archives in Krichev cleaned up the mass grave of soldiers of the 4th Airborne Corps

As part of events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, employees of the Zonal State Archives in Krichev visited and cleaned up the mass grave of soldiers of the 4th Airborne Corps.

On the evening of July 29, 1941, paratroopers under the command of the chief of the operational department of the corps headquarters, Major V.S.Timchenko, broke into Krichev, occupied by fascist troops, and with a swift blow drove the enemy out of the city. The paratroopers held the city for more than a day. In a stubborn bloody battle, almost all of them died a heroic death. Major Timchenko, after whom a street in Krichev is named, also died.
