Conducting lessons for students of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No.42 of Grodno» as part of the «Archives to School» campaign at the «State Archives of the Grodno Region» institution

On April 11, 2025, as part of the «Archives to School» campaign, the «State Archives of the Grodno Region» institution conducted 2 lessons on the topics «State Archives of the Grodno Region: History and Modernity» and «Genocide of the Belarusian People during the Great Patriotic War» for 9th-grade students of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No.42 of Grodno».

The archive staff told the schoolchildren about the history of the archive, the main areas of its activities, as well as the importance of the archivist profession. The most interesting and valuable documents stored in the archive were presented to the students.

The children were also shown documentary materials illustrating the criminal activities of the occupation authorities: cards of prisoners of war who were in German camps, and certificates of ghetto prisoners. During the lessons, the children familiarized themselves with the exhibitions of documents exhibited in the reading room.

In the laboratory for restoration, binding and repair of documents, the students observed the process of restoring paper information carriers. The lesson ended with a tour of the archive.
