Exhibition of documents «Maria Anderson»
On January 25, 1870, the ballerina, favorite of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and friend of Matilda Kshesinskaya Maria Karlovna (Anisimovna) Anderson (Vasilieva, Ritter, Yaroslavtseva) was born. In 1918-1921, she taught ballet in the provincial city of Vitebsk.
To mark the 155th anniversary of M. Anderson’s birth, a banner exhibition of documents from the archive’s collections was organized in the State Archive of the Vitebsk Region; materials from the St. Petersburg State Cultural Institution «St. Petersburg State Theater Library» and Yanina Gurova’s article «The Mysterious Maria Karlovna Anderson (Vasilieva): Materials for a Biography» were also used.
