An event dedicated to the International Holocaust Remembrance Day was held at the State Archives of Public Associations of the Gomel Region

On January 27, 2024, as part of the «Archives to School» campaign, a historical memory lesson dedicated to the International Holocaust Remembrance Day was held at the State Archives of Public Associations of the Gomel Region for students of the Gomel State Engineering College.

As part of the meeting, archivists organized a screening of the documentary film «Liberation», prepared by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, as well as videos about the Ozarichi death camp and the Dulag-121 prisoner-of-war transit camp.

During the event, students were introduced to archival documents on the genocide of civilians in the Gomel region and documents from the personal collections of participants in the Great Patriotic War.

The students also had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with original documents containing the memoirs of General P. I. Batov, which described the episode of the liberation of the prisoners of the Ozarichi camp.

In conclusion, a sightseeing tour of the archive was conducted for the students, during which the children became familiar with the main areas of its work and the current exhibitions of archival documents.
