On January 17, the opening of the new building of the State Archive of Public Associations of the Grodno Region took place
The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Belarus E.I.Kovalenko, Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee V.S.Karanik, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Belarus – Inspector for the Grodno Region Yu.Kh.Karayev, Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management O.L.Voinov, General Director of Grodnopromstroy OJSC A.I.Levinsky, employees of the state archives of the region and the Main Department of Justice of the Regional Executive Committee took part in the ceremony.
Every year, the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus is replenished with more than 100 thousand storage units. In order to ensure optimal conditions for storing archival documents, in 2014 the institution was given the building of the former barracks on Krasnoarmeyskaya Street, 11/14 in GrodNo. As a result of the reconstruction, the building currently meets all the standards and technical requirements necessary to ensure the safety of the documentary heritage of our country. In his speech, the Minister of Justice expressed confidence that the opening of the archive is not only the result of many years of work, but also a good foundation for the future. «In our country, great attention is paid to preserving historical memory, the truth about the feat of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War. The relevant provisions have been included as one of the norms in the Basic Law of our state – the Constitution», noted Evgeny Iosifovich in his speech at the ceremony.
O.L.Voinov expressed gratitude to the governor of the region for the support provided for the project of reconstruction of the building for the archive and noted that this opening of the new building is a significant event in the jubilee year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.
In the reading room of the archive, the invitees got acquainted with the exhibition of archival documents, the history of the archive, the documents and funds in storage. The director of the archive L.N.Gorbach, candidate of historical sciences, associate professor of the department of history of Belarus, archeology and special historical disciplines of the Grodno State University named after Yanka Kupala A.N.Zagidulin spoke. The invited guests also got acquainted with the work offices and archive storages.
