On the holding of the Unified Lesson «Ola. Tragedy and Memory» by the institution «Zonal State Archives in Zhlobin»
The tragedy in Ola is one of the testimonies to the cruelty and inhumanity of the German occupiers.
In order to deepen students’ knowledge of the historical events of the past, the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War, on January 14, 2024, as part of the «Archives to School» campaign, the State Cultural Institution «Zhlobin District Children’s Library» held a Unified Lesson dedicated to the 81st anniversary of the tragedy in the village of Ola «Ola. Tragedy and Memory» for 4th-grade students of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No.5 in Zhlobin».
During the Unified Lesson, archive employee I.N. Eliseeva told the students about the tragic events that took place in the village of Ola, Svetlogorsk (formerly Parichi district) on January 14, 1944, demonstrated archival documents confirming the fact of genocide of the burned village, and introduced a virtual documentary exhibition prepared for this tragedy.
At the end of the lesson, all those present honored the memory of the innocent victims of the village of Ola with a minute of silence.
