Virtual exhibition of the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art «I was blessed with sunshine in the month of May…» for the 100th anniversary of Artur Volsky (23.09.1924 – 05.09.2002)
The Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art has prepared a virtual exhibition for the 100th anniversary of the birth of the famous poet, prose writer, playwright, translator, public figure Artur Vitalyevich Volsky, who was born on September 23, 1924.
Several generations of Belarusians grew up on the poems and fairy tales of Artur Volsky. He is the author of more than 40 children’s books and the creator of the Belarusian language textbook «Belarusachka». The character of the Bearded Grandfather, popular in the 1980s, was also created by Artur Vitalyevich. His plays were staged in theaters in Belarus and abroad. Artur Vitalievich recreated many works of Jewish, Latvian, Lithuanian, Russian, Ukrainian, Estonian and other poets in translation into Belarusian.
In Artur Volsky’s Fund No. 76, the archive-museum stores photographs, author’s manuscripts and typewritten texts of plays and librettos, poems and stories; scripts of feature and animated films, a radio opera and a rock musical, articles by A.V. Volsky about M. Bogdanovich, V. Vitka, M. Gusovsky, Tetka; speeches, reviews, sermons to believers, interviews; memories of school years, service in the Far East, about Ya. Kupala, P. Glebka, Z. Byadulya, V. Luksha; essays on the history of the 16th Koidanovsky border detachment (based on the memoirs of V. Volsky); correspondence from relatives, as well as Ya.Bryl, E.Drulle, L.Tanyuk and others for the years 1972-90 and many others.
