Molodechno archivists held a film lecture for student interns

Archival documents are important evidence of events, traditions and social changes. Their availability to schoolchildren helps to understand the importance of preserving cultural and historical heritage. This was discussed by archivists of the institution «Zonal State Archive in Molodechno» with students of grades 5-7 of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No. 12 in Molodechno» as part of the «Archives for School» campaign.

Thus, while on summer practice, the children were able not only to work usefully in their native Alma Mater, but also to spend their leisure time. Archivists showed the students the documentary film «Liberation». The newsreel, based on footage from front-line cameramen, was presented for the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. The project was prepared on the initiative of the Belarusian State Film and Photo Document Archive under the leadership of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus and the Department of Archives and Records Management.

During the meeting, archivists noted: in the modern world, where information is one of the most valuable resources, preserving and passing on knowledge to new generations is becoming especially relevant. And the «Archives to School» campaign is an important step in this direction, integrating archival materials into the educational process. Such an initiative also helps to form a conscious attitude towards their past in young people.

The schoolchildren watched the film with interest, and after the screening they actively asked questions: not only about how the film was created, but also about the profession of an archivist in general. The meeting filled the children with new knowledge and impressions.
