Virtual exhibition «55 years since the opening of the Khatyn memorial complex» (together with the Khatyn memorial complex)

On July 5, 1969, the Khatyn memorial complex was opened on the site of the village of Khatyn. It became a symbol of the tragedy of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War.

In memory of hundreds of Belarusian villages destroyed by the Nazis during the Great Patriotic War, and the enormous contribution of the Belarusian people, who made countless sacrifices in the name of victory, in January 1966, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus decided to create the Khatyn memorial complex in the Logoisk region.

In March 1967, a competition was announced to create a memorial project. The competition was won by a team consisting of architects Yu. Gradov, V. Zankovich and L. Levin, as well as sculptor – People’s Artist of the BSSR S. Selikhanov.

As part of the festive events, the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus prepared a virtual exhibition dedicated to this significant date (July 5).

The exhibition presents unique documents from the archival funds of the «Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus», «Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus», «Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus», «State Committee of the Republic of Belarus for Architecture and Construction».

The exhibition «55 years since the opening of the Khatyn memorial complex» was prepared jointly with the Khatyn MK. You can view the exhibition using this link.
