Employees of the State Archive of the Vitebsk Region took part in events dedicated to the 1050th anniversary of Vitebsk and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the city from the Nazi invaders (City Day)

On June 26, 2024, events dedicated to the 1050th anniversary of Vitebsk and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the city from the Nazi invaders were held in Vitebsk. Employees of the State Archive of the Vitebsk Region took an active part in these events.

The celebration of this significant date for the regional center began on Victory Square. There, the regional and city leadership, representatives of labor collectives and the public, and young people laid flowers and wreaths at the memorial complex in honor of Soviet liberation soldiers, partisans and underground fighters of the Vitebsk region, and held a rally.

On this holiday, the archive was visited by students from secondary school No. 11 in Vitebsk, who were attending a specialized summer school camp. An information hour was held with the children, watching the documentary film «Liberation of Vitebsk», prepared by BGAKFFD.

Project «Open Film Archive. We brought this day closer as best we could» was presented on City Day at the themed evening «Three bayonets wart the price…» at the Vitebsk Regional Library named after V.I. Lenin. The documentary film «Liberation of Vitebsk» was also shown here.
