Archival and museum practice of BSU students in BGAMLI

On June 24, 2024, as part of the republican action «Archives to School», an educational archival and museum practice was organized at the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI) for 2nd year full-time students of education in the specialty «historical and archival studies» and «history (domestic and foreign)» of the Faculty of History of BSU.

Archival and museum practice will ensure the formation in students of such social, personal and professional competencies as mastery of methods and means of cognition, learning and self-control for intellectual development, increasing cultural level; the ability to meaningfully perceive and carefully treat the historical and cultural heritage of Belarus and the world.

Trainees will work under the guidance of experienced archivists and researchers from BGAMLI, studying the activities of state archives in the field of acquisition, preservation and use of documents.

Future specialists will acquire skills and abilities in organizing the reception of documents of personal origin, creating a scientific reference apparatus and digitizing documents, and preparing virtual exhibitions. This experience will help them better understand the specifics of the work of state archival institutions and determine their professional direction.

Ultimately, a successful internship can be the key to a future career in cultural heritage and research.
