Director of the institution «State Archive of the Gomel Region» Andrey Nikolaevich Suschevich presented the exhibition «Unconquered Gomel Region» for students of colleges and universities in the city of Gomel within the walls of the Gomel State University named after Francis Skorina

On June 19, 2024, during the dialogue platform «Prevention of extremism among youth: there is no room for error» within the walls of the Gomel State University named after Francis Skaryna, the director of the institution «State Archive of the Gomel Region» (hereinafter referred to as the State Archive) Andrei Nikolaevich Suschevich presented the exhibition «The Unconquered Gomel Region» « for students of colleges and universities in the city of Gomel.

The exhibition project «The Unconquered Gomel Region» is a significant contribution to the great work being carried out by archival institutions to preserve the historical memory of the events and participants of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. and takes on special significance on the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, and the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.

Using the materials of the exhibition, the director of the State Archive, as part of the republican action «Archives to School», conducted a lesson. During the lesson, a set of documents was presented that revealed information about the events that took place in the territory of Gomel and the Gomel region during the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945).

The youth were informed about the facts of genocide that took place on the Gomel land, as well as about the struggle and heroism of the Belarusian people against the Nazi invaders.

The lesson conducted using the example of an exhibition project did not leave any of the students indifferent. The guys carefully examined the exhibits, listened to the speech of Andrei Nikolaevich Suschevich, and asked questions. All questions were answered comprehensively.
