«Young archivist»: lesson at secondary school No.7 in Rechitsa, dedicated to May 9

On May 8, 2024, as part of the «Archives for School» campaign and the «Young Archivist» pilot project, a lesson was held for ninth-grade students of secondary school No.7 in Rechitsa on the eve of the 79th anniversary of the USSR Victory over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941- 1945

During the lesson, the children were informed about the composition of the funds of war veterans, which are the main part of the personal funds of the Rechitsa State Archives. Then they listened to the story «He Obeyed the Sky» about the most eminent veteran-founder of the archive – Hero of the Soviet Union, military pilot Dmitry Valentik (F. 35) – and got acquainted with his documents, including an autobiography, a certificate of a military pilot, certificates for medals, photographs and etc.

Concluding the lesson, the archivists thanked the ninth-graders for their attention and participation in the «Young Archivist» classes and gave several valuable recommendations for preparing for this honorable profession.
