Opening of the exhibition «The Earth Bleeds with History»

On May 7, the National Center for Contemporary Arts hosted the opening of the exhibition «The Earth Is Bleeding with History», prepared jointly with the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents, the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art, and the Union of Belarusian Jewish Public Associations and Communities, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from German rule. -fascist invaders. The main guidelines of the exhibition are the concept of memory, the phenomenon of the war hero, the fragility of human life, expressed through the language of contemporary art.

The basis of the exhibition’s exposition was the stock documents of the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents, which include over 100 storage units of photographic documents. An important expositional component, which made it possible to more clearly reveal and diversify the exhibition, were the sound and film documents of the BGAKFSD, including sound recordings of memories of witnesses of war crimes committed on the territory of occupied Belarus, which became the basis for the book «I’m from the fiery village», and film documents about the trials of the Nazi invaders and their accomplices. The exhibition also included documents from the Belarusian State Museum of Literature and Art, the Union of Belarusian Jewish Public Associations and Communities, and works by contemporary Belarusian artists and photographers.

The opening speech was made by the director of the National Center for Contemporary Arts Sergei Evgenievich Krishtapovich, the director of the BGAKFFD Andrei Nikolaevich Gonchar, the director of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art Elena Aleksandrovna Makarenko and other participants of the exhibition.

During the opening of the exhibition, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents and the National Center for Contemporary Arts, which is evidence of fruitful cooperation and the basis for new joint projects.

We invite everyone to visit the exhibition, which will be open to visitors at the National Center for Contemporary Arts at 47 Independence Avenue until August 25.
