On the 38th anniversary of the tragedy at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, a memorial event was held in the Holy Assumption Cathedral in Vitebsk in honor of the fallen participants in the liquidation of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant

International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly (resolution 71/125) and is celebrated on April 26. It was on this day in 1986 that an explosion occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, leading to a man-made disaster.

In Vitebsk, in the Holy Assumption Cathedral in Vitebsk, a memorial event was held in honor of the fallen participants in the liquidation of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident.

Those gathered lit candles.

A minute of silence was declared for those who gave their lives and health to eliminate the consequences of the disaster.

A lithium service was served for the deceased liquidators and victims of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

The event was attended by employees of the State Archive of the Vitebsk Region.
