«Young archivist»: lesson at secondary school No. 7 in Rechitsa
On April 26, 2024, as part of the «Archives to School» campaign and the «Young Archivist» pilot project, employees of the Zonal State Archive in Rechitsa again met with students of grade 9 «B» of secondary school No.7 in Rechitsa.
The lesson was held in a traditional format – in two parts. First, schoolchildren were shown a video lesson from the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art, «Working with Museum Objects». Along the way, the archivists informed the children about the specifics of the work and documents of BGAMLI, citing as an example the names of its famous fund-founders (Yakub Kolos, Vincent Dunin-Martsinkevich, Vasily Bykov, Vladimir Korsh-Sablin, Stefania Stanyuta, Larisa Aleksandrovskaya, Valentin Volkov, etc.).
The next part of the lesson was called «At the epicenter of Chernobyl». Ninth-graders listened to information about the participation of Rechitsa archivists of those years in the evacuation of documents of liquidated organizations from the contaminated territories of the Bragin and Khoiniki regions, and became acquainted with the documents and scientific reference publications stored in the archive on the topic of the Chernobyl tragedy. The culmination of the lesson was the story about the founder of the archive – firefighter-liquidator of the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant Vasily Ignatenko (F. 879).
