Exchange of experience between representatives of the National Archive and colleagues from the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus
On February 6, 2024, the management and heads of departments of the National Archive of the Republic of Belarus (NARB) visited the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus (CAMD) to exchange experience on professional issues.
CAMD Director B.N. Gorkavy made a presentation to the guests on the main areas of activity, spoke about the history of the archive, and conducted a sightseeing tour, during which NARB representatives asked their colleagues questions and received comprehensive answers. The management and heads of departments visited all structural divisions of TsAMO, the reading room, and archival repositories, familiarized themselves with the conditions for storing documents, the digitization process, and the preparation of responses to requests.
Also, as part of this trip, representatives of the NARB visited the museum of the history of weapons, located on the territory of the military unit, got acquainted with samples of firearms stored there, and learned about the features of their manufacture, use and repair.
The working trip allowed me to look at archival work from a different angle, gain a lot of new information on professional issues and broaden my horizons.
