Opening of the movie marathon «Boomerang»

For the first time, on November 10, 2023, the Boomerang Movie Marathon was opened in the Republic of Belarus as part of the socially significant project «Without a Statute of Limitations: The Unconquered». The event was organized by the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus with the participation of the interregional public organization «Children’s Media Association «Boomerang» (Russian Federation) and the institution «Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents».

The film marathon launched an international correspondence competition for teenage media works in our country. The goal of the competition is to preserve the historical memory of the tragedy of the civilian population of the USSR – victims of war crimes of the Nazis and their accomplices during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 through the creation of media products by teenagers.

90 talented youth students from 16 schools in Minsk and Dzerzhinsk were selected to participate in the correspondence competition.

The participants of the competition were addressed with welcoming words by: Deputy Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management Alexey Evgenievich Tsvetkov, Director of the Children’s Media Association «Boomerang» (Russian Federation), Candidate of Sociological Sciences Natalya Vladimirovna Vasilyeva and Deputy Director of the Russian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents Rimma Maksimovna Moiseeva.

During the two days of work (from November 10 to 11, 2023) of the Boomerang Film Marathon, participants in the competition will be given practical classes on creating educational films and master classes with directors and cameramen.

Based on the results of a series of master classes, schoolchildren will create video clips about Soviet civilians who became victims of the Nazi policy of mass extermination during the Great Patriotic War. The best of the works will take part in the All-Russian correspondence competition and will be included in the film almanac «Without a Statute of Limitations: The Unconquered».

The event is held at the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No. 224 in Minsk».
