On conducting thematic «archive lessons» at the Lyceum of the Belarusian State University

As part of the cooperation agreement signed in 2023 between the National Historical Archive of Belarus and the Lyceum of the Belarusian State University, the leading archivist of the information retrieval systems department, Candidate of Historical Sciences Vitaly Makarevich, conducted thematic «archive lessons» on September 18, 2023 in the specialized 11th history class of the lyceum. He spoke about the past of the archive, the main types of sources stored in it, and the most important documents from the collections of the Scientific Research Agency of Belarus.

Students of the BSU Lyceum showed great interest in archival materials. There is no doubt that many of today’s students, after entering history departments, will use sources from the Scientific Research Institute of Belarus when writing scientific papers.

In addition, V. Makarevich agreed with the teachers of the Department of Social Sciences of the BSU Lyceum on the topic of the following “archival classes” on the history of Belarus in the 18th–19th centuries.
