On the opening of the exhibition «Sport in Belarus»
On the eve of the opening of the 2nd Games of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Minsk, the Ministry of Justice hosted a presentation of the exhibition «Sport in Belarus».
The exhibition has been prepared by the Department of Archives and Paperwork and includes copies of archival documents from the funds of the National Historical Archive of Belarus, the National Archive of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents and the Belarusian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation.
Employees of the Ministry of Justice got acquainted with the exhibition. During the tour, they were presented with documents reflecting the history of sports in Belarus in different periods.
Documents up to 1917 cover the activities of the chess club in Minsk, the organization of the Minsk branch of the society of athletics and physical development «Sanitas», etc.
Documents on the history of Belarusian sports of the Soviet period tell about football and volleyball competitions at the Dynamo stadium in the 50s – 70s. last century, about holding competitions in Minsk as part of the Moscow Olympics in 1980, on the construction of the republican center for Olympic training in winter sports «Raubichi», etc.
Separate sections of the exhibition are presented with the official heraldic symbols of the sports federations of the Republic of Belarus, as well as badges for achievements

The questions of those present were answered by the employees of the Department of Archives and Paperwork, the National Historical Archives of Belarus, the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus. The participants were interested in what kinds of sports were developed in different time periods of the history of Belarus, the progress of the construction of famous sports facilities, the achievements of Belarusian athletes in competitions of various levels, etc.
The exhibition will continue its work until the end of the II Games of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
