Participation of employees of the Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents and the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art in the opening of the exhibition «Alexey Glebov. Glorifying Man»

On June 16, 2023, employees of the Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents (hereinafter referred to as the BGAKFFD) and the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as the BGAMLI) took part in the grand opening of the joint exhibition «Alexey Glebov. Glorifying man» with the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter referred to as the museum). The exhibition is housed at the museum and will run until August 13.

Aleksey Konstantinovich Glebov is a laureate of the State Prize of the BSSR (posthumously), a participant in the Great Patriotic War, a sculptor and teacher, belongs to a galaxy of artists whose work began during the formation and formation of the Belarusian sculptural school. His works, combining revolutionary romanticism and softness of forms, elegance of contours and heroic-civil content, represent a bright page in the history of the development of Belarusian art of the BSSR period.

Archival photographic documents of the BGAKFFD from the collection of Clara Andreevna Bembel, daughter of the famous Belarusian and Soviet sculptor, People’s Artist of Belarus Andrei Onufrievich Bembel, reflecting the period of A.Glebov’s creative life in the 1940-1960s, his joint work with colleagues, diversified the rich exhibition exposition. The interest of the visitors was aroused by the archival newsreel used for the design of the video sequence, depicting the sculptor at work. From the funds of BGAMLI, the exhibition presents biographical documents of the sculptor: membership cards, certificates, certificates of honor and diplomas, as well as correspondence and congratulatory telegrams.

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Director of the BGAKFFD Andrei Nikolaevich Gonchar emphasized the potential for cooperation and new opportunities for promoting archival documents of interest from the point of view of preserving the cultural heritage of Belarus.
