Аbout the events of the National Archives for the International Day of Archives
International Day of Archives is celebrated annually on June 9th. It was established by the International Council of Archives (ICA) in November 2007 at the General Assembly in Quebec (Canada).
The date for the holiday was not chosen by chance – it was on this day in 1948 that the UIA was founded by the decision of UNESCO and under its auspices. The date of formation of this organization was defined as the International Day of Archives, and this first holiday, which took place in 2008, became at the same time the 60th anniversary of the founding of the ISA.
The International Council of Archives is a professional organization of the global archival community that promotes the preservation, development and use of the world’s archival heritage. It is a neutral non-governmental organization funded by its members from many archives around the world. To date, the ISA has about 1.5 thousand members from more than 190 countries.
On June 9, 2023, the State Institution «National Archives of the Republic of Belarus» is holding an open day as part of the events dedicated to the International Day of Archives.
On this day, two tours of the archive will be organized at 11.00 and 14.00 with a visit to the archives and the reading room. Visitors will be able to get acquainted with the activities of the archive, get advice on archiving and office work, the scientific and reference apparatus of the archive, the rules for working with documents in the reading room, as well as on ensuring their safety. During the tour, authentic documents on the history of Belarus, collections of archival documents prepared and published with the direct participation of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus will be presented.
