Employees of the Zonal State Archive in Slutsk held an information hour
On March 23, 2023, as part of the «Archives to School» campaign and events dedicated to the Year of Peace and Creation, with students of the 4th grade of the state educational institution «Secondary School No. 2 of Slutsk» and their teacher Kanoplitskaya Angela Evgenievna, archive employees held an information hour on the topic «Perehody. Tragedy and Memory», as a tribute to the inhabitants of the village of Perehody of the Slutsk region, burned 80 years ago by the Nazi invaders and in memory of hundreds of Belarusian villages destroyed during the Great Patriotic War.
The village of Transitions shared the fate of Khatyn and was never restored. In the Slutsk region, 36 villages were partially or completely burned, 12 of them were not restored.
The children were presented with archival documents from the archive funds, reflecting the fact of the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War, about the atrocities of the Nazi invaders and their accomplices and the damage they caused.
The children also took a tour of the archives.
