About the visit by the employees of the National Archives Republic of Belarus memorial complex «Khatyn»
On March 22 and 23, 2023, on the eve of a memorable and tragic date for our country – the 80th anniversary of the destruction of the village of Khatyn, delegations of workers from the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus visited the Khatyn Memorial Complex.
Representatives of the primary public organizations of the National Archives – the trade union organization, «Belaya Rus», «BRSM», the Belarusian Society of Archivists, the Belarusian Union of Women, laid flowers at the monument and the eternal flame. During the tour, the archivists met with the family of the survivor Viktor Zhelobkovich, during which the relatives shared their memories of the terrible events that occurred in the village of Khatyn on March 22, 1943.
The employees of the archive also visited the exposition of the new museum with a guided tour, which tells about the tragedy of Khatyn, demonstrates what wars and hardships befell the ancestors of the modern inhabitants of Belarus, how they had to defend their native land and the right to live on it. The museum is filled with many exhibits and modern interactive technologies that allow you to tell about the terrible events of the past years as realistically as possible. Hall No. 6 of the museum displayed original documents from the funds of the National Archives, which supplemented the exposition with supporting historical facts of the tragic events of the Great Patriotic War.
At the end of the tour, the employees of the National Archives talked to the director of the Khatyn memorial complex A.G. Zelsky, who spoke about the concept of creating the museum. Deputy Director of the National Archives E.V. Kushnova handed over the collection of archival documents «Khatyn tragedy», which was published by archivists on the eve of the tragic date.
