On March 16, 2023, a round table «80 years of the tragedy in Khatyn. The results of the investigation of the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War»

The round table was attended by: the head of the administration of the Novobelitsky district of the city of Gomel Kazachok S.A., the first deputy head of the department of justice of the Gomel regional executive committee Gurzhiy A.A., the director of the institution «State Archive of the Gomel Region» Sushchevich A.N., senior lecturer of the department philosophy and special historical disciplines F.Skorina Zhdanovich P.L., Acting Deputy Head of the Department of Internal Affairs of the District Administration – Head of the Public Security Police Kovalev E.I., Director of the KZHRUEP «Novobelitskoe Gomel» Koval V.M.

In his opening speech, Sergey Kazachok introduced the participants of the round table, and also familiarized the archive staff with the plan of the event.

As part of the round table, Pavel Zhdanovich revealed the main issue of the Khatyn tragedy, noting: «The Khatyn tragedy is one of the thousands of facts that testify to the deliberate policy of genocide against the population of Belarus, which was carried out by the Nazis throughout the entire period of occupation during the Great Patriotic War. The terrible crimes of those war years should not only never be forgotten, but should not be repeated.

In his report, Andrei Gurzhiy spoke about an important innovation in the Belarusian electoral system – a single voting day, emphasizing the importance of public information on this issue.

At the end of the event, the participants thanked each other for a constructive and interesting dialogue.
