Presentation of the fifth book in the series «Without Statute of Limitations» in Brest
On 22 June 2022, the Brest Regional Library named after M. Gorky held the presentation of the fifth book in the series «Without Statute of Limitations», dedicated to the Brest region.
In his opening speech, V. I. Kurash, Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management Department of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, emphasized the importance of the project for Belarusian historiography. He stressed that the project “Without Statute of Limitations” has become an all-archive project in the scale of our country.
A. K. Demyanyuk, Director of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, opined that the documents published in the collection reveal new facts of crimes committed by the Nazis and their accomplices against the peaceful population of the region.
S. V. Kulinok, Candidate of Historical Sciences and Head of the Publications Department, spoke in detail about the composition of the documents and how the book had been prepared. He stressed the importance of publishing the documents of the German side, which provide convincing evidence of crimes against civilians from the very first days of the war.
V. V. Zdanovich, Professor, Doctor of History, Head of the Department of History of Belarus, emphasized the importance of the entire series as a whole and the book on the Brest region for the national historiography. He noted the good structure of the collection and the concept of the series and expressed confidence that the fruitful work of the National Archives in preparing documental collections that are relevant and in demand by science and society will continue.
A. G. Karapuzova, Director of the State Archives of Brest Region, spoke about the participation of the Archives in preparing the book and the composition of the published documents.
The authors of the historical preface, associate professors E. S. Rozenblat and I. E. Elinskaya noted the importance of such publications in the educational process of higher educational institutions and spoke about the work on the historical preface of the collection.
At the end of the presentation, the director of the National Archives A. K. Demyanyuk handed over a complete set of books «Without Statute of Limitations» to the Brest M. Gorky Regional Library, as well as 15 copies of books on the Brest region to government institutions, higher educational institutions, city library, etc.
