Open Day at the National Historical Archives of Belarus in Grodno as part of the International Archives Week and the presentation of documentary and book exhibitions on the War of 1812 (to the 210th anniversary of the War of 1812)
On 6 June 2022, as part of the International Archives Week, the National Historical Archives of Belarus in Grodno held an Open Doors Day and the presentation of the documents exhibition “In the footsteps of courage and fortitude” and the book exhibition on the War of 1812.
The first guests at the opening ceremony were schoolchildren of Secondary School No 28 in Grodno from the children’s health camp with day care “Neposedy”.
The visitors were told about the military events of that time: the preparation of the opposing parties for the war, the combat operations and the heroes of the Patriotic War of 1812, the use of human and material resources, the material damage inflicted by the war. They could see photocopies of documents, battle plans and locations of battles in the Grodno province, autographs of Emperors Alexander I and Napoleon I, Russian and French generals, photos of commanders, etc.
The book exhibition about the War of 1812 included printed editions created in modern times to mark the anniversaries of the Patriotic War of 1812.
